If you see an “error encountered when authorising access to Advertising data” message when linking Amazon Ads, here’s how to fix it.
If you see the error message “error encountered when authorising access to Advertising data” when linking your Amazon Advertising account to MerchantSpring, it usually relates to login permissions or the type of account being used.
Step 1 — Log in via the Amazon Advertising Console (not Seller Central)
-
Log out completely of Amazon Seller Central.
-
Go directly to the Amazon Advertising Console.
-
Log in using your Ads Manager account credentials — not a client account or Service Provider Network (SPN) account.
Step 2 — Check Permissions
Make sure your Ads Manager account has Admin or sufficient permissions:
-
Go to Settings → Linked Accounts in the Advertising Console.
-
Use the “Link existing account” option.
-
If this option isn’t available, ask the account owner to grant you access.
Step 3 — Retry Linking in MerchantSpring
Once permissions are confirmed, try linking your Amazon Advertising account again in MerchantSpring. Allow up to one hour for the changes to take effect.
Step 4 — Troubleshooting Tips
-
Use an incognito/private browser when linking your account to avoid cached cookies interfering.
-
If the issue persists, try connecting via a different Ads Manager account with the correct permissions.
-
If you continue to see errors, share a screenshot or recording with MerchantSpring Support so we can investigate further.
Outcome:
Once the Ads account is successfully linked, MerchantSpring will automatically sync your advertising data into your reporting.
