What permissions are required to connect an Amazon account to MerchantSpring?

Learn what permissions are required when connecting an Amazon Seller or Vendor account to MerchantSpring.

To successfully connect an Amazon account to MerchantSpring, the user completing the connection must have sufficient permissions within Amazon Seller Central or Vendor Central to authorize third-party application access.

These permissions allow MerchantSpring to retrieve the data required to power reporting, analytics, and financial insights.

Without the correct permissions, the connection may fail or certain datasets may not be available.

Types of Data MerchantSpring Accesses

When connecting an Amazon account, MerchantSpring requests access to retrieve several categories of data through Amazon’s APIs, including:

Order and Sales Data

  • Orders
  • Product sales
  • Order item details

Financial Data

  • Fees
  • Refunds
  • Reimbursements
  • Financial adjustments

Product Data

  • SKU information
  • ASIN data
  • Catalog metadata

Advertising Data (if advertising permissions are granted)

  • Campaign metrics
  • Advertising spend
  • Clicks and impressions
  • Attributed sales

These permissions allow MerchantSpring to generate detailed financial and performance reporting.

Required Amazon Account Permissions

The user connecting the integration must typically have one of the following roles:

  • Primary Seller Central account owner
  • Administrator account
  • User with API authorization privileges

If the user does not have sufficient permissions, Amazon may block the authorization process.

Steps to Connect an Amazon Account

  1. Click Add Channel
  2. Select E-Commerce Channel
  3. Select Amazon Seller Central or Amazon Vendor Central
  4. Log into your Amazon account when prompted
  5. Review the permission request
  6. Click Authorize

Once authorized, MerchantSpring will begin retrieving historical data automatically.

Notes:

  • Advertising permissions may require additional authorization depending on account structure.
  • Some organizations restrict API access to administrators only.
  • If permissions change later, the connection may need to be reauthorized.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter permission errors during the connection process, verify that the user completing the setup has sufficient access rights.
