Why am I being asked to reauthorize my Amazon connection?
Learn why MerchantSpring may prompt you to reauthorize your Amazon connection and how it affects customer data and reporting.
You may be prompted to reauthorize your Amazon connection due to recent changes in how Amazon provides access to customer data, particularly buyer email information.
These changes affect key features in MerchantSpring that rely on customer identification, such as:
- Customer Lifetime Value (CLTV)
- repeat customer tracking
- customer-level analytics
Reauthorization ensures that your connection includes the correct permissions required to access all available data.
Why Reauthorization Is Required
Changes to Amazon Data Access
Amazon no longer provides buyer email data by default in standard reports. Additional permissions are now required to access this data where available.
Missing Permissions
If your current connection does not include the required permissions (such as the DTC Shipping Restricted Role), certain datasets will be unavailable.
FBM-Specific Impact
This change primarily affects:
-
FBM (Fulfilled by Merchant) accounts
-
accounts connected before Amazon’s update
What Reauthorizing Does
Reauthorizing your connection will:
- update your permissions with Amazon
- restore access to available customer data
- improve accuracy of customer-related metrics
What to Expect
- A banner notification prompting reauthorization
- A quick reconnection flow via Amazon
- Minimal disruption to your existing data
Notes
- Reauthorization is safe and does not remove your data
- It simply refreshes permissions
- Some data may still be limited depending on Amazon policies
