Why am I seeing duplicate product images in Image Change Alerts?

Amazon stores multiple versions of the same image in different resolutions for different device types (e.g., desktop vs. mobile). These versions are stored separately within Amazon’s catalog.

MerchantSpring monitors each of these stored image versions individually. As a result:

The same visual image may appear multiple times because it exists in multiple resolution formats.

A change to any one of these versions (such as a new file name or URL) can trigger a content change alert.

Images can be flagged because one specific resolution version changed — even if the visual content appears identical.

This approach ensures we detect any change to what consumers may see across devices.
