Why do Deferred and Settled results appear in different months?

Deferred reporting follows the shipment and financial-recognition date. Settled reporting follows Amazon's later settlement cycle. If an order ships near month-end, the economics can appear in the shipment month under Deferred and the next month under Settled.

The difference is most visible during major trading events or at quarter-end. A settlement delay can make one month look lower and the next month look higher without changing the underlying transaction value.

Choose one view and use it consistently across both periods. If you are reconciling with an Amazon statement, confirm whether the statement is using a deferred or settled basis before comparing totals.
