Why do Deferred and Settled results appear in different months?
Settlement timing can move late-month Amazon activity into the following reporting period.
Deferred reporting follows the shipment and financial-recognition date. Settled reporting follows Amazon's later settlement cycle. If an order ships near month-end, the economics can appear in the shipment month under Deferred and the next month under Settled.
Why this mattersThe difference is most visible during major trading events or at quarter-end. A settlement delay can make one month look lower and the next month look higher without changing the underlying transaction value.
How to compare periodsChoose one view and use it consistently across both periods. If you are reconciling with an Amazon statement, confirm whether the statement is using a deferred or settled basis before comparing totals.
Conceptual example based on the product training session.
Important: A period shift is not automatically missing data; first check the selected view and transaction timing.
