Why does a filtered channel show different data than the main channel?

Learn why filtered channels may display different results compared to the main channel.

Filtered channels in MerchantSpring are designed to display a subset of data based on specific criteria. Because of this, they are not expected to match the totals shown in the main (unfiltered) channel.

Differences are normal and reflect the applied filtering logic rather than incorrect data.

Why This Happens

Filtered Subsets of Data

Filtered channels may include only:

  • specific products

  • selected marketplaces

  • defined product groups

This naturally results in different totals.

Exclusion of Data

Filters may exclude transactions or products that are included in the main channel view.

Metric Behaviour on Smaller Datasets

Some metrics behave differently when calculated on a subset of data, especially when aggregation is involved.

Steps to Investigate

  1. Review the filter criteria applied
  2. Compare the filtered channel against the full dataset
  3. Remove filters to validate total values
  4. Confirm which products or segments are included

Notes

  • Filtered views are not intended to match full totals
  • Always validate what is included vs excluded
  • Differences are expected and normal
