Understand why MerchantSpring cross-channel reports may not match Vendor Central and how PO-based vs Retail Analytics data is used.
This is expected behaviour. The Cross-Channel Product Performance report in MerchantSpring uses Purchase Order (PO) data, while many views in Amazon Vendor Central use Retail Analytics data. Because these are different data sources, the figures may not always match.
What data does Cross-Channel Product Performance use?
The Cross-Channel Product Performance module is designed to provide a cross-channel, operational view of product performance. For Amazon Vendor accounts, it uses:
-
Purchase Order (PO) data to calculate sales
PO data reflects:
-
Orders placed by Amazon to the vendor
-
Operational purchasing activity
-
A consistent data source across multiple channels
What data does Vendor Central use?
In Vendor Central, many commonly referenced reports (including ASIN-level sales views) are based on:
-
Retail Analytics data
Retail Analytics reflects:
-
Consumer-facing retail sales activity
-
Shipped and sold-through metrics
-
A different reporting lens than PO-based data
Why do the numbers differ?
Because PO data and Retail Analytics data represent different stages and perspectives of sales, it’s normal for totals to differ between:
-
Vendor Central Retail Analytics reports, and
-
MerchantSpring’s Cross-Channel Product Performance report
This does not indicate missing data or a syncing issue.
Which MerchantSpring reports should match Vendor Central Retail Analytics?
If you’re looking to reconcile directly against Vendor Central Retail Analytics, we recommend using:
-
My Channels → Amazon Vendor Central
-
ASIN-level and channel-specific reports within the Vendor channel
These views are aligned with Vendor Central’s Retail Analytics data and should closely match what you see in Amazon.
Which report should I use?
It depends on your use case:
-
Use Cross-Channel Product Performance if you want:
-
A consolidated view across channels
-
Operational, PO-based performance insights
-
Cross-channel product comparison
-
-
Use Vendor channel reports if you want:
-
Direct reconciliation with Vendor Central
-
Retail Analytics-aligned ASIN metrics
-
Channel-specific accuracy
-
